08/09/2010 - Philadelphia, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Hunter Mahan's victory Sunday at the WGC- Bridgestone Invitational moved the American to 12th in this week's world golf rankings.
Mahan moved up 19 spots this week after his biggest professional win.
Tiger Woods survived as the No. 1 player in the world despite his worst professional tournament. Woods tied for 78th in an 80-man field and finished at 18-over par, which was his highest score in relation to par since losing his amateur status in 1996.
Phil Mickelson had a chance to become No. 1 if he finished fourth or better on Sunday, but that didn't happen. Mickelson, who began Sunday in a tie for 10th, shot a 78 and stayed at No. 2.
Lee Westwood withdrew from the Bridgestone and announced he won't play this week at the PGA Championship. He remained in third, followed by Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, Ernie Els, Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy, Paul Casey and Ian Poulter.
U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell kept his 11th place, followed by Mahan. Martin Kaymer remained in 13th, while Anthony Kim, who returned to action after a thumb injury last week, sank two to 14th. Retief Goosen jumped two to 15th.
Padraig Harrington fell one to No. 16, but Robert Allenby, who will miss the PGA Championship after slipping on his boat and injuring his knee, dropped three to 17th.
British Open champion Louis Oosthuizen slid two to 18th, while Sean O'Hair joined the top 20 after a fifth at Firestone. Justin Rose completed the top 20.
Ryan Palmer, who finished second to Mahan, shot up 86 places this week to 63rd.
